In a city with some of the most restrictive gun control laws in the country?
Posted by nukevet at July 23, 2003 05:46 PM | TrackBack"Davis' brother, Geoffrey, emerged from the hospital around 4:45 p.m.
"The system killed my brother," Davis said. "They knew that he would fight. We're going to keep fighting and do the right thing."
What kind of horseshit is that? What's he suggesting, that the"system" hired a man to shoot his brother? It's fairly obvious the guy was a nut, why does it always have to be a dark conspiracy to rob people of their hero? Life is hard, and people die for bad reasons, sometimes no reason at all except in the mind of the killer. I know the guy's grieving but that's absurd. Unless he has proof he's making his brothers legacy one of paranoia and hate, and inciting people for no reason other than it can't be just fate.
It has to be sinister forces at work,......sigh. Are there any grown ups left in big city politics?

Hollywood
Only ordinary folks die for no reason or are killed by bad men in Hollywood. It is the same thing that leads to 4S (Springer Show Stupidity Syndrome) TV.
Some people can't take the fact that their lives are ordinary and feel the need to make them extraordinary. AKA: Drama.
Posted by: analog kid on July 23, 2003 09:44 PMI have a friend to whom I talked this evening about the disparity of muder statistics between a city with a high gun murder rate (Washington, DC) and strict gun control, and a city right next door (Arlington, VA) with a low murder rate and less strict gun control. I saw these two places mentioned on a blog I think you linked to today, but I don't remember where. Her contention was that the difference had less to do with gun contol per se, and much more to do with differing demographics of the two cities. Know of anywhere that I could find more info about that? And what are your thoughts? Maybe I should post this on the Bulletin Board too... yeah, I think I will.
Posted by: Mollbot on July 24, 2003 01:31 AMWow... I misspelled murder. I think that I'm becoming a convert to the bulletin board, it's nice to be able to fix your stupid typos.
